EDUCATION: David was born in Melbourne in 1941, he was educated at the Caulfield Institute of Technology and the Melbourne School of Printing and Graphic Arts. He was the first winner (1979) of the Camberwell Rotary Overseas Travel Grant that enabled him to further his studies and expand his experience in London, Europe and North America. David has also been a judge on numerous occasions and also as a former prize winner for the prestigious Camberwell Rotary Club watercolour prize, other special awards and four commendations.
David Taylor is one of a handful of Australian watercolour artists noted not only for his own outstanding work but also for his contribution to the wider watercolour community, and his encouragement and instruction of other artists. He has been teaching and demonstrating watercolour techniques since 1968 enabling many artist to benefit from his remarkable artistic talent and teaching skills

AWARDS: David's many notable distinctions include Artist of the Year, Victorian Artists Society (Bronze Medallion) 1976, 1980 and 1989. He is a fellow of the Victorian Artists Society and a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute. He received the Distinguished Leadership Award for outstanding services to watercolour and teaching (International Directory of Distinguished Leadership) and the Certificate of Merit for distinguished service to the community
