Louise Richardson is an artist living and working in London, ontario, Canada.

Artist's Statement
I paint pictures using oil paint on canvas. I have been working in the visual arts area all of my adult life as a teacher but only in the last few years have I had the time to create my own work.

The paintings always begin as digital photographs which undergo a major metamorphosis when loaded into the computer. I crop, experiment with line and colour, erase and redraw on the computer before I begin to paint. Then the computer image becomes no more than a reference, because, after all, a computer screen is not paint and canvas.

I am particularly excited about integrating inspiration from other sources into my paintings. I love walking in quiet places and I am enthralled by the play of light and colour both in the city and in the woods. My most recent paintings are inspired not only by walks in the woods but also by the structure of stained glass and of old buildings and of crazy quilts.
