      Echoes of the Wave ~
Redwood Forest National Park, California, United States - California>

We had originally noticed this ridge glowing in the setting sun from about a mile away
while we were shooting on the beach. Not having a good shot from that location,
we drove in up closer to the ridge and positioned the camera to just at the edge
of the water to catch the leading line created by the wave to the glowing ridge.
The exposure was balanced to preserved the details in the water as well as the sand.>

      The Gate ~
Antelope Canyon, Arizona, United States - Southwest States

While exploring the Lower Antelope Canyon, I came across this arch.
I was attracted to the rich textures, the parallel lines, and the depth of light.
I avoided the harsh sunlight on top of the Canyon to prevent over exposure.>

Valley of Shadow of Death ~
Death Valley National Park, California, United States - California

This photo was taken in the middle of a sandstorm. The wind was blowing hard (30-40 mph)
and it was a challenge to protect the camera from the ?stinging? sand.
The glow in the distance is created by the setting sun through
a crescent shaped crack in the clouds behind me.

      Flames of Fire ~
Antelope Canyon, Arizona, United States - Southwest States

On my first visit to Antelope Canyon, I was disappointed to find that the beams of light I had come to see did not occur until the summer months. I decided to make the best of my visit, and tried to shoot some unique abstract images. This shot was taken with a long zoom lens in Upper Antelope Canyon.

      Marblehead ~
Lake Erie, Ohio, United States - Northeast States

Due to the calm winds and cooler water temperatures, the sediments on Lake Erie has settled down revealing rich colorful rock formations underwater surrounding the Marblehead Lighthouse. The humidity hugging the lake surface was reflecting the light of the setting sun. I used a slow shutter speed to smooth out the textures in the water in this photograph

      The Silver Streak ~
Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming, United States - Rocky Mountain States

While waiting to take the famous photo of the Tetons range at Schwabacher?s landing, I noticed this deep blue sky with backlit mist rising from the beaver pond. So, I gave up my spot to photograph to Tetons range (as the sky was rather boring) decided to concentrate on this breathtaking Silver streak instead.

      Life on the Edge ~
Bryce Canyon National Park, United States - Southwest States

As I was walking along the rim of Bryce Canyon on a cold fall day,
I noticed this tree lit up beautifully by first light of the rising sun.
I used the limb of the tree to form a diagonal line overlooking the Bryce Canyon hoodoos.
The photograph was exposed to capture the texture in the tree
as well as the texture in the Canyon.

      Desert Creek ~
Death Valley National Park, California, United States - California

Hike to Darwin falls was one of the most memorable hike of a lifetime
providing along the way numerous photographic opportunities.
Darwin Creek with is colored rocks, green moss, and cool flowing water
transform a vast barren landscape of Death Valley into an oasis.

      Grand Saut ~
      Franche-Comte, France

The waterfalls of Cascade Du Herisson form one of the most picturesque natural areas
in Eastern France. Swelled by the spring rain, Herisson river cascade down the mountains
forming several small and large waterfalls that make up the Cascade Du Herisson.
Largest among these waterfalls is Grand Saut. To get an even lighting for this photograph,
I waited until the entire canyon of Grand Saut was covered in shade.

Escalante, Utah, United States - Southwest States

The colors and textures of Escalante region are not only very unique
but they also provide a feast for the eyes. While exploring the Escalante
region we came upon this vein of red rock that was embedded light blue grey mound.
I choose the stripped hills in the background to further highlight
the unique geology that makes up this region.
